BATU PAHAT: The 118-year-old Batu Pahat Hospital (HBP) has been formally renamed in honour of Tunku Puan Nora Ismail, the consort of the third Sultan of modern Johor, Sultan Ismail.
Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail was officiated by Nora herself at the hospital's ground in Jalan Korma here on Wednesday.
She also spent time visiting the hospital new facilities and presented gifts to some patients.
HBP was build at Simpang Rantai on 1894 before it was relocated to Jalan Kluang in 1914, which operated till 1994.
Due to increasing population in the district, the hospital shifted to its current ground to ease the congestion problem.
The hospital was built on 44.3ha land at RM90.47mil under Sixth Malaysian Plan and officiated by former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek on Sept 3, 2007.
